PRESS: Russia, Japan to create $902 mln joint venture fund
MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Russia and Japan plan to create a joint venture fund worth 100 billion yen, or U.S. $902 million, slated for a launch in 2017, Nikkei newspaper reported Tuesday.
The Russian Direct Investment Fund, or RDIF, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will each contribute roughly half of the amount.
The fund will focus on financing projects in the sphere of medicine, urban development and upgrades of manufacturing facilities.
JBIC also will form a venture with Russia's Far East Investment and Export Agency and the Far East and Baikal Region Development Fund to encourage investment in a special economic zone in that area.
